Today, Saturday, January 10th, the members of the LHS Speech and Debate team competed in the “Patriot Games” at George Washington High School. The team has been working hard since the season began in October. The members of the LHS Speech and Debate team consistently represent the Lions well as they attend day long tournaments on many Saturdays.
The Speech and Debate team has undergone several changes in the dynamic of the team, including major aspects like team coaches and commitment requirements.
“The changes narrowed the team down to the people who could truly commit, but turned a lot of talented people away. Ultimately, I think the [changes] were better for the team as a whole,” said sophomore Emma Olsen.
The team is getting better and improving as the season goes on.
“The team…has been doing well! There are a lot of talented people in every event,” said Olsen.
The students did their best today, with sophomore Kelly Steinberg receiving 6th place in her event, Humor Interpretation. The LHS Speech and Debate team will continue to give it their all as they continue on for the rest of the Forensics season. Go lions!
