Senior Madi Gore tees off for golf

On this sunny April day, senior Madi Gore teed off alone representing the LHS girls golf team at the Fox Hollow Tournament at the Fox Hollow golf course. The girls golf team has never been one of the larger teams, however the team is exceptionally small this year. Senior Madi Gore is the only returning player and this years team captain. Gore was ready to take on this first tournament and came out extremely triumphant.

“My putting has improved a lot this season, and I shot the best score I’ve ever shot,” said Gore.

The small numbers of the team have affected the girls in many ways, both on the course and off. The small numbers prevent them from dominating any tournament but have definitely not stopped the girls from forming a great bond and having fun.

“It is difficult to get a full number to any tournament, but I think as a team we are much closer because of it. I think we’re a much stronger team because of our small number,” said Gore.

This years golf season has taken a while to get into the full swing of things but now things have begun to pick up. Gore, along with the other girls are looking forward to a fun season with lots of improvement.

“I am really just looking to improve each week, and make the most out of the season,” said Gore.

A few of the girls will be playing in the Glenmoor tournament next week. It is a beautiful course which the girls are looking forward to having the opportunity to play on. The LHS girls golf team is an incredibly fun and motivated group of girls who are excited to make the most out of this years’ season.

“I just want to be a good captain for this year’s girls and have fun with it!” said Gore.
