It is impressive for a show to last five seasons but this one has managed to stay on air for 21 seasons. Dancing with the Stars kicked of its 21st season premiere Monday September 14th with a star studded cast, as always.
The stars on the show this season include Tamar Braxton, Gary Busey, Nick Carter, Paula Deen Victoria Espinoza, Andy Grammer, Hayes Grier, Bindi Irwin, Chaka Khan, Alexa Penavega, Carlos Penavega, Alex Skarlato and Kim Zolciak Biermann. The most anticipated dancers seemed to be Paula Deen, Gary Busey, Andy Grammer, and Steve Irwin’s daughter Bindi Irwin.
Throughout the premiere on Monday night the new stars cracked jokes and had some awkward moments, like when Paula Deen made a comment after dancing about how scared she was. The dances themselves were not all that amazing, which is perfectly acceptable given the star’s lack of experience dancing. Some dances that did stand out were Bindi Irwin’s dance, Hayes Grier’s dance and Nick Carter’s dance which received the highest scores of the night.
This season also brought changes to the judging panel. Former Judge Len Goodman will no longer be a judge on the show. His replacement is Julianne Hough, a two time champion of the show. Hough seems to be fitting in quite well with the other judges as she criticized the dances throughout the night.
The premier landed ABC the biggest numbers in DWTS history, as many tuned in to see the new line up of stars. After watching the first episode it appears as if the new season will be very interesting due to the new line up of stars. Tune in to watch Dancing With the Stars Monday nights on ABC.
