LHS boys’ basketball defeated by Coronado in final seconds

Saturday, January 9, the LHS boys basketball team took on Coronado High School at LHS. Despite the team’s strenuous efforts LHS lost by one point with an ending score of 55 to 56.

Throughout both halves the teams each fought hard to try to stay ahead, but neither could manage to hold on to their lead for longer than a few minutes. Both teams seemed to be playing at equal levels, having possession of the ball for about the same time. By the end of the game each team ended with 10 fouls each.

During the fourth quarter, the game became even closer with LHS holding on to the lead for almost the entire quarter, until the very end. The teams played hard going up and down the court constantly, while referees made tough and somewhat controversial calls. With only a few seconds left and the excitement and worry rising in the crowd, Coronado managed to score the game winning shot, bringing the end score to 55 to 56.

Despite the team’s attempts to hold on to their lead in this tough and exciting game they could not quite pull the win off. The team will play again Wednesday, January 13 at 7:00pm against Valor in the north gym of LHS . IMG_1485 IMG_1510 IMG_1519 IMG_1522 IMG_1531 IMG_1538 IMG_1551
