Seniors take first in boys volleyball tournament

Tuesday boys throughout the school teamed up and grabbed a volleyball in order to participate in the annual homecoming boys’ volleyball tournament that took place in the south gym.

There were six teams that were entered in the tournament with a couple of grades having two teams. The senior team came out on top at the end of the tournament, beating the other teams.

“Well it’s our senior so we really wanted to win, and we dominated the other teams,” said senior Max Fidler.

The first game for the seniors was against the freshman team. There was about twice as many players on the freshman than the senior team. Despite this the seniors managed to work together to set up hits and ultimately beat the freshman by a large margin.

During the tournament the bleachers were full of students from the different grades cheering on the various teams. The turnout of both the players as well as the crowd was better than that of previous years.

“I thought it would be fun to play with my friends senior year to make sure that the seniors won,” said senior Max Fidler.

Many of teams wore costumes and other funny outfits to show off their spirit. There was a combination of matching teams and those who were more subtle with their team outfits.

Overall the atmosphere in the gym during the matches was very fun and energetic. Both fans and players had a fun time.
