Band and color gaurd light the lights at the Parade of Lights in Colorado Springs

The LHS band and color guard made an appearance at the Colorado Springs Parade of Lights on Saturday.

The 32nd annual Parade of Lights in Downtown Colorado Springs on Tejon Street featured the LHS band and color guard among local businesses and nonprofits.

The band featured the medley “The Nutcracker March” as about 65 students played in the holiday parade.

“The marching band does this parade every year as it’s an LHS tradition,” said Abby Lister, who performed in color guard this year.

“The routine that color guard came up with was really easy,” said Lister.

The band and color guard played through the night from 5:50 onward and despite the cold, the band played through and walked all nine blocks.

“I love the performance. Once I get out on the field (or in the parade), I become a different person and I think that’s really cool,” said Lister.
