This afternoon, baseball traveled all the way out to Fort Collins to scrimmage against both Lincoln and Fossil Ridge. Varsity beat Lincoln by one point, and lost to Fossil Ridge with a final score of 1-5.
The varsity team, consisting of freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors played their first game of the season today, bonding with the team and discovering each other’s strengths, weaknesses and abilities. It was a learning experience for everyone, as the team is a lot different this year than it was last year. They definitely showed some great strengths and potential today, as they pulled away with a 1-1 scrimmage record.
“All of our pitchers did well and we had good energy,” said sophomore Christian Sapakoff, a utility player for varsity and a pitcher for JV.
The boys played strong through both the crazy wind and warm weather out in Fort Collins, and are excited to see what the rest of the season brings.
“I think we’ll be really good, so I’m excited for going out and winning and just having fun with the team,” said Sapakoff.
The boys will take a rest day tomorrow and will be back training again on Monday, working hard to prepare for their next game, and in the near future, a tournament to New Mexico. They are hoping to continue developing their skills and solidifying players’ positions on varsity, JV and C-team.
