Does the unicorn frappuccino live up to all of it’s hype?

Starting this week, participating Starbucks stores have released a new, limited time frappuccino called the Unicorn Frappuccino. The drink is a purple and blue frappuccino that certainly lives up to the expectations of it’s name. The drink might be appealing because of it’s popping colors, but does it taste as good as it looks?

It might look like something that should taste like cotton-candy, but it’s actually fruity and tangy, which isn’t expected based from the colors.  People have described the taste as either too sweet or too sour. The opinions on the drink have appeared to be very mixed.

“I thought [the frappuccino] was gross. It should have tasted like cotton candy or bubblegum. I wouldn’t buy it again,” said sophomore Abby Lister.

While some people didn’t like the taste of the new drink, I thought differently. I thought the drink was just the right combination of sweet and sour. I would recommend it to people who have a big sweet tooth, but not to people who don’t appreciate sugar, because the drink is almost pure sugar.

“Even though I didn’t like it, I’m sure there are people who do. I don’t really understand all of the attention the drink is getting though,” said Lister.

The drink is only at Starbucks for a limited time, so if you’re someone who has to try out all of the latest trends, there’s not much time left to try the new Unicorn Frappuccino, so go out and grab it to take an instagram worthy photo, and perhaps find your new favorite drink.
