A Project for Better Journalism chapter

Urban Peak Week kicks off

This year, LHS student council is hosting Urban Peak Week. This is a week dedicated to helping out the Urban Peak Organization, which aims to assist young people to overcome poverty and homelessness by offering support and services to become self-reliant adults. All week, events will be happening aimed at raising support and awareness for the organization and the young people it helps.

Last week, students paid to Duct tape student body president Andy Bredar to the wall. There were also multiple lip sync battles during lunches. All proceeds went to Urban Peak, but the festivities are not over!

Students who bring a can of food to their class meetings on Wednesday have the chance to win an ice cream party. The seminar class with the highest number of cans brought in will win an ice cream party for their seminar class on May 3.

There is also a clothing drive for the teens at Urban Peak. Teens at Urban Peak need nice clothes to wear to job interviews or to a job they have already obtained. Students who have clothes in good condition that they would like to donate should bring the clothes to school by April 28th. Drop off bins can be located in the cafeteria and by the attendance office.
