On Saturday, April 29 boys swimming held an invitational against Arapahoe and Overland High School. They competed well in the meet and junior Turner Deshon achieved his second state qualification for diving. Other swimmers have been working hard to have a strong finish to the season and possibly qualify for state.
“Swimmers like [junior] Evan Montgomery and [sophomore] Ethan Montoya are staying consistent with their times, promising a hopefully effective taper that will make their races faster at the end of the season,” said Deshon.
The team was a little short because they were missing a few key swimmers, freshman David Kosten and sophomore Zach Weiland, but still did well against the other competitors.
“Those guys are some of our best swimmers, but everybody swam their best despite them not being there,” said Deshon.
As the end of their season is winding down, they will compete at Valor and then the 4A Jeffco League Championships. Currently, Weiland has been the sole qualifier for state on the swim side, and Montgomery is very close to making it in the butterfly. DeShon joins them in his two state diving qualifications.
