Today, LHS welcomed the Valor baseball team to the fields. It was a close game, but LHS was able to secure the win against the #2 4A team in the state. The end score was 10-9.
The boys knew they had to come out strong if they were to keep up with a difficult team like Valor.
“At the beginning of the game, we were all loose and focused on the game, so all we really wanted to do was play loose and battle,” said junior Jake Kissell.
The scores were close throughout the game.
“Valor is a very good team, and they took the lead on us a couple of times, but we still came back,” said Kissell.
The boys hit and ran hard through the game in order to secure the win. Being a tough team, the boys had to pick up their game and play their hardest if they wanted to win. At the end of the game, their hard work showed as they scored the winning run in a walk off, hit by senior George Shiebel.
The team’s next game is this Friday against Golden. In order to prepare, the team plans to work on the errors they had during this game and focus on their hitting during practice.
“We’ll get prepared for it by hitting hard at practice and correcting some things before Friday. We just need to clean up our fielding errors that we had,” said Kissell.
