This past Thursday and Friday, May 4 and 5, girls tennis competed in the 4A regional tournament. It was overall pretty successful for them because every team won their first game on Thursday advancing them to Friday’s games and a chance to qualify for state.
Ultimately, three doubles, seniors Shane Dufrene and Rachel Hildreth, placed second in the tournament and are headed to state. Two doubles and two and three singles placed third, making them alternates for state.
“We are super excited for state! I think we were very focused and determined to win, so we kept our energy up and played every point like it was our last,” said Hildreth.
This the first year Hildreth and Dufrene have been on varsity tennis and qualifying for state is a huge, exciting accomplishment for them. The team will head down to Pueblo on May 11 for the state championships.
