On Tuesday, September 19, the boys golf team set out to the Country Club of Colorado. They played in the 4A regional tournament which was split between different courses based on the school. Junior Jacques Goffinet shot an impressive 91 and qualified himself for state on October 2.
“I’ve never been to state before so I am really excited,” said Goffinet.
It wasn’t a simple feat, however.
“I actually felt like I got off to a really bad start, but I kept grinding and my last 9 holes were really good in my opinion,” said Goffinet.
He ended up being tied on the cut line with six other players at the end of the day. This meant the six players all had to fight for four spots to go to state.
There was a two hole playoff between the six to determine the state qualifiers. Goffinet played very well in the extra holes and secured a spot for the state tournament. He has about a week of preparation before the big day.
The final results for LHS.
