Ultimate frisbee edges out CIVA

This afternoon, the ultimate frisbee team, “Biggleton Saucegods”, took on CIVA Charter High School and pulled off an exciting win, 9-8. This was the team’s fifth game of the season, and they have found much success thus far. The Lions lost their first game by just one point last week in a tight game against Cherry Creek.

This week, the team came back strong and energized. CIVA is a very good team from Colorado Springs and they showed their talent early on. Going into the half, LHS was down 5-3 but stayed resilient and battled in the second half.

“We were kinda rattled at the beginning because it wasn’t going our way, but everyone really stepped up later on,” said senior Trevor DeShon.

LHS made some great plays and worked on their zone defense in order to shut down CIVA. Thus, the game was tied 8-8 and it became a sudden death overtime.

Senior Keaton Schreiber blocked a CIVA pass close to their goal line resulting in a turnover. Senior Matt Sehgal quickly picked up the frisbee and passed it to Schreiber to win the game.

This was a thrilling victory for the Lions, who were treated with a team dinner after the game. They look to continue their good fortune next week against Lakewood.

LHS cheers before the game.
