Lady lion fish swim fast at first meet

On Thursday, November 30th, LHS’s lady lion fish competed in their first swim and dive meet of the season against Chatfield. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to pull out a win.

Even though the swim team did not win, they still started the season off strong.

“We did great yesterday, being our first meet, and everyone was so positive and cheering on the swimmers who were swimming their first meet,” said senior Lily Jensen.

However, yesterday there were a few top swimmers gone, including senior Lydia VanKooten who typically does exceptional at the meets. This, combined with team size, put the swimmers at a disadvantage.

“They had a bigger team and really good swimmers and we had a few swimmers gone too,” said Jensen.

Despite the loss, the swim team is looking forward to the rest of the season.

“I see [the season] going great. I’m super excited to see how everyone improves,” said Jensen.

As for the dive team, senior Mandy Zueger placed 1st in the meet. All of the other divers on the LHS team were competing in their first meet, so Zueger believes they did well based on that fact.

“We all did super awesome! For all the girls other than myself, it was their time diving and they did very well,” said Zueger.

The team’s next meet is on Thursday, December 7th at Littleton against Valor Christian High School.
