Instrumental music puts on stunning winter show

Thursday night, the instrumental music department performed their annual holiday concert. Just two days ago, LHS choirs performed their own winter concert, and now it was instrumental music’s turn. The band, orchestra, and jazz ensemble each performed different pieces and came together at the end for an electric performance of “Carol of the Bells”.

The band performed a mashup of Hanukah songs and later a “Mad Russian’s Christmas.” It was particularly special for the orchestra as home-schooled senior Logan Nelson performed a bass solo. He and his twin sister are heading off to college next semester and they were recognized for all their accomplishments in the orchestra. Another special moment was when Principal Amy Oaks accompanied the orchestra on the piano.

Jazz Ensemble performed the classic “All I Want For Christmas” and were accompanied by Kylie Griggs’ vocals.

All in all, this was one of the more successful instrumental concerts and all the students’ hard work was on display.
