This evening at 7pm, boys’ basketball played hard against the D’Evelyn Jaguars, ultimately losing 55-64. The lions were winning for the first three quarters of the game, but D’Evelyn came back strong in the end for the win.
“It was a tough game and a tough fight. The energy was amazing from our team and the crowd! The atmosphere in general was amazing,” said senior captain Jason Levy.
Despite narrowly losing the game, the boys worked well as a team and gave it their all, playing hard all the way until the end.
“I think our team is doing great. I fouled out…I was super proud of my teammates with how they stepped up to finish the game,” said Levy.
In addition to the normal basketball game tonight, winners of the basketball raffle fundraiser were announced. Raffle ticket buyers had the chance to win a Denver Nuggets signed basketball, a $100 steakhouse gift card and the opportunity to drive a Maserati around for the weekend. Denver Nuggets basketball player Ervin Johnson (NBA player from 1993-2006) drew the winning raffle tickets. Two Denver Broncos cheerleaders were also at the game to announce the winners of the raffle.
Overall, the LHS community packed into the gym to experience a great night of basketball and fun prizes! However, basketball is not over yet, and though the team has improved their record a lot this year, they still have a lot they want to accomplish.
“We are a new team with a new playing style. I’m hoping we can make an appearance in playoffs and have a playoff game at our home court,” said Levy who is excited for what the remainder of the season will bring.
The boys will play again at 7pm on Wednesday, January 24th at home against the Wheat Ridge Farmers.
