Speech and debate qualifies members for state

Saturday, the speech and debate competed at Douglas County in their state qualifying meet. Many members had excellent showings which translated into a qualifying spot.

Among the members who qualified were senior Avery Zieper and freshman James Zieper in public forum debate, junior Ben Greenly and sophomore Grace Greenly in duo interpretation, sophomores Jack Rodgers and Natalie Parkhurst in humor, junior Julia Valdez in poetry and junior Ashlyn Moore in drama.

“It was nice to compete with my sister because this was the first time we have been able to all year. So the fact we qualified for state after being together for the first time is pretty cool,” said Zieper.

The team has achieved lots of success this year and those going to state at Rocky Mountain High School have about three weeks to prepare.
