Read Across America continues to be a success

Friday, members of Student Council went to different elementary schools around LPS to participate in Read Across America. It’s an annual event in celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday that encourages reading to young kids

Student Council organizes the day and they have different, fun worksheets and activities that relate to the book for kids to do. This year’s book was Dr. Seuss’ “The Cat in the Hat”. The elementary students colored and wrote different cards that related to the book.

“I had a really rewarding experience and it was so fun to see their expressions and talk to them about cats and all their favorite pets. One kid even wrote me a card,” said senior Alex Bassock.

LHS students went out to dozens of elementary schools that participate each year. It is a very fun experience for the kids as well as LHS students who get to put smiles on the kids’ faces.
