Thursday, May 3, 2018, Littleton High School girls’ soccer team played the Niwot Cougars. LHS came away with a 1-0 win. The Littleton Lions scored a single goal in the first half, and this goal was scored by sophomore Jasmine Thompson Harvey. It was tight game because the Cougars are ranked ninth in the state and the Lions are ranked twentieth. This defeat was very impressive for the girls’ team.
“It was a strong win because we had Sarah Gray out which definitely was hard,” said senior goalkeeper Lily Jensen.
Senior Sarah Gray dislocated her kneecap two days ago in a game against D’evelyn. Gray slipped on the wet grass and her knee popped, which could be a season ending injury.
“It’s very tough to lose a player like Sarah, but we all came together to play well for her against this tough team,” said Jensen.
Jensen played outstanding and had a well-deserved shut-out while other girls were key contributors to the game and particularly defense.
The night also happened to be senior night where all the seniors were celebrated for their accomplishments on and off the field. It was a very special night for the girls as their season winds down.
