After a few days of very rainy, wet weather and unpredictable scheduling, the girls’ tennis team competed at regionals at Gates tennis courts in Cherry Creek. The sun was out and shining on Friday and the girls had a pretty successful day.
The four doubles team made up of seniors Katie Trigg and Lucy Schreiber qualified for state next week. Unfortunately, Trigg and Schreiber have testing those days, so they will not be able to attend state.
Two singles player junior Gretchen Schooleman was extremely close to qualifying as well.
“I played three matches and the first one I won against South. I lost against Palmer Ridge in a super long second game. And then I won against George Washington which put me in third,” said Schoolemen.
Most of the girls played great final matches and even ones who did not do as well still look back on the season with fond memories.
“Although Lea and I should have won yesterday and did not play our best, I’m very proud of us and all we accomplished this year. We had a new coach and we were new partners, but the season was so fun and I couldn’t have asked for a better one,” said senior Cailen Wasinger.
