On Friday and Saturday, boys state swimming was held down at the Air Force Academy. There were many LHS swimmers that qualified for state, seniors
Evan Montgomery, Tucson DeShon, Turner DeShon, junior Ethan Montoya, sophomores David Kosten and Hans Romine, freshmen Flaherty Dennin,
Reid Formstrom, Oliver Montoya, and Brody Jessen.
This was an impressive year for the Lions who had many state qualifiers. It was especially significant for the divers who are low in numbers but definitely strong in spirit and determination to perform well.
”Our diving team is pretty small but I like it because we have really bonded and are able to push each other to do well,” said senior Turner DeShon.
As for swimming, the relay team consisting of Jessen, Montoya, Fornstrom, and Montgomery swam in both the medley relay and the free relay. They had a great showing in the 200 free relay capturing 15th place. Fornstrom also barely missed the cutoff for the finals in the 100m butterfly.
The strong showings by LHS reflects their commitment to working hard this past season and really becoming a team. This is particularly true of the seniors.
“I can’t believe it was my last swim meet for Littleton, I have such amazing memories and friends here and I loved going out with a bang,” said DeShon.
