August 31, the Littleton XC team traveled to DeKoevend Park to compete in the Arapaho Warrior Invitational Meet.
Littleton did very well overall, with boys varsity placing 13th out of 24 teams and girls varsity placing 12th.
Senior Christian Sapakoff stood out on the team, placing 20th out of 174 runners in the boys varsity 5,000 meters.
“This season I want to win the league meet, set the school record in the 5k, and I want to make State as a team,” said Sapakoff.
The team has many seniors this year, including Christian Sapakoff, Christian Olsen, Henry Jackson, Colin McCormick, and Rachel Tobler.
Even with so many seniors, the future of Littleton XC looks promising, especially with freshmen such as Grace Valentine finishing 1st out of Littleton varsity girls.
“My goals for this season are to break 21 minutes and try to get rid of my pre-race anxiety,” said freshman Grace Valentine.
Littleton girls varsity has many notable underclassman, including freshman Emily Caldwell and sophomore Eva Dethomas who placed 71st and 75th respectively.
“This year the team is different in that we have the confidence and the belief that we can make state as a team, with really good depth, some promising freshman, and a lot of good returners, and everyone is firing on all cylinders at practice and at meets,” said Sapakoff.
With such a strong team, the 2018 season looks bright for those hoping to qualify for State.
