Girls Basketball crushes first game of season

This Wednesday, the LHS Girls Basketball teams played their season’s first game against the Colorado Academy Mustangs.

The JV team played the first game in LHS’s north gym. Plenty of Littleton supporters cheered as freshman Ava Youngblood Yazzie scored the first basket of the season. From there, the team only improved; the first half of the game ended with the lions having scored 24 points, and CA only 10. In the second half, the Lions crushed Colorado Academy with a final score of 52-17.

The Level 3 team played during JV’s game. They also defeated Colorado Academy.

Varsity Girl’s Basketball played after JV in the north gym. Assuring a clean sweep for LHS, they too won their game. Their final score was 43-25 W. Sophomore Ashton Haddock, #32, was selected as the LHS Basketball Player of the Game.

“It was a really good game, and a really good start to our season… I’m very proud of my teammates. My team did really good and we all came together, which was great,” said sophomore JV player sophomore Elise Boorom after the game.

“I kind of was going in knowing that we would win, that it was going to be an easier game, but I’m still really proud of my teammates and how they played… we all rose to the challenge, and it was an awesome game,” said junior JV player Gaia Williams.

“I think we’re gonna take a lot of wins, and I think as a team we’re really strong. So I think we’re gonna have a good season,” said Boorom.

Girls Basketball’s next game is this Friday in Grand Junction. They will be playing against Fruita Monument High School and Palisade High School.
