DECA State Competition

Starting from this Saturday evening to this past Tuesday, Littleton High School’s DECA team attended and competed at DECA State. Students competed to qualify for the International Career Development conference in Orlando, Florida.

Since the tournament takes place at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, this competition is guaranteed to be a fun one. The two different types of events that were able to qualify were role plays, which were able to qualify for state through Districts earlier this year, and through written events.

“It’s been really fun! It’s cool to see how many people there are and how the experience runs,” said Sophomore Meera Paranjape.

Different events throughout the three-day competition had accumulated success from many students, including the current President of DECA, Jenna Silverman.

Along with the hardworking marketing events, the DECA team also gets to participate in some less stressful activities, including; bumper cars, trivia, and the opportunity to engage in workshops pertaining to DECA events

The three students who went above and beyond, and are continuing on to attend the International Career Development Conference, are Jaq Goffinet, the Competition Director, Claire Fielder, the Public Relations Coordinator, and Rory Stark.

“I knew that I had enough business knowledge to have fun in an event. But now, I have really become interested in my chosen event and the DECA world,” said Paranjape.

As the DECA season drew to a close, another astounding year of success in marketing, and team spirit was brought about for many years to come.
