This past weekend, students from LHS participated in the 2019 National ACDA choir convention in Kansas City, a nationwide audition-only choir with about 320 people in it. LHS students Margaret Bird and Evan Brown were chosen from to be a part of the convention. Students sent in their audition tape and were selected this past fall, and then had to pass a part check upon arrival.
“I learned a lot about dynamics and good consonants, but I think the best thing I learned was how to listen across the choir. We were in quartets, so you couldn’t rely on the people around you. I think it really strengthened my singing ability,” said Sophomore Margret Bird.
Margaret made the Southwest ACDA last year in Oklahoma City, and recommended the experience to those who are willing to give it a shot.
“It’s so much fun to sing with talented singers from all over the country, and the audition is low stress, so there’s no reason not to try,” said Margaret.
The LHS choir department is proud to have been represented by these students in the NACDA choir this year.
