2025 Boys’ Swim and Dive Senior Appreciation Night

Tonight, the Boys’ Swim and Dive team honored their seniors at their last home meet of the season. First, the boys’ extended their winning streak by defeating Brighton High School 132-47. With all relays and a bunch of the individual events being won by the lions, they had an amazing meet!

After the diving break, senior appreciation night was in full effect. Christian Tieberg, Joe Carter, Trevor Mershon, Oliver Ingels, Daniel Witke, Grai Fry, and captains Gabe Montoya and Luke Morris all got honored by announcing their postgrad plans, their favorite memory on the team, and a piece of advice they would give. The rest of the swimmers set up a tunnel for the seniors to walk through as they got honored, and each of the seniors’ family members wore custom Hawaiian shirts with their kids’ faces printed all over them. Each senior got a beautiful bouquet of flowers and got to parade around the pool with their family.

Many of the seniors had an amazing final home meet, with Mershon getting a lifetime best in his 200 IM, Morris dropping almost 3 seconds in his 100 back, and Witke having some phenomenal dives!

The bond this team has is unbelievably strong. Every single race and senior recognition, the entire team roared for their teammates. When Mershon and Montoya were asked what their favorite memory from this year was, they both responded with a team bonding experience. Mershon’s was when they did archery over spring break and Montoya’s was the bus ride back from a Cheyenne Mountain High School meet.

As the boys reach the postseason, they are hyped about the possible outcomes to end their historic season.

“I’m very excited about how we’re doing ourselves. The postseason is going to be awesome!” said Montoya with much enthusiasm.

With leagues approaching next week, there is so much energy buzzing around the team, and the LHS boys’ swim and dive team are ready to give it their all.
