The best spooky movies to watch this Halloween

The spooky season is upon us so it’s getting to be time for people to get their popcorn and turn on their favorite Halloween movie. Here is a list of some of the best spooky movies for you to watch and don’t worry, there aren’t any spoilers.

The ‘Scream’ movies

First up are the ‘Scream’ movies. Though not as inherently scary as traditional horror movies, the ‘Screams’ give you that permanent sense of unease throughout the film. You can never know what is going to happen next. I have to say, if you don’t like jump scares this might not be the series for you. But each movie ends with a twist you don’t see coming. The first five movies are on Paramount and the sixth one will be released on March 31.

If you’re looking for a classic you can’t go wrong with M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Sixth Sense’. This movie leaves you on the edge of your seat with bated breath. This movie does a great job of making you feel scared without doing anything actually frightening. The characters are created in a way that makes you connect with them immediately. ‘Sixth Sense’ is known for having one of the best twist endings of all time and it definitely delivers.

‘The Sixth Sense’

On the more humorous side of things, you can always watch ‘Hubie Halloween’. Upon its release in 2020 there were some mixed feelings about it but I can confidently say that it is a very good movie. Viewers get a nice mix of hilarity and heartwarming actions while learning valuable lessons from the characters. If you need a good laugh but still want something on theme with the season, ‘Hubie Halloween’ is a good way to go.

‘Seven’, easily one of the more gruesome movies I’ve seen is a great movie if you’re well prepared. It takes on a startlingly possible plot line that makes you feel like it could be very real. The plot is one of the darkest crime stories ever told depicting the seven deadly sins and how they play out in the real world. To make it even better, the cast stars very well-known actors who are all perfect fits for the roles they play. If you want the darker side of horror/thriller this movie is a great fit.

‘It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown’

Lastly, the movie everybody knows, ‘It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown’. This is an amazing classic that brings us back to the time of our childhood. A movie filled with innocent humor and happy times is a very uplifting story about friendship and celebrating a fun holiday.

Each of these movies has a great aspect of the Halloween season mixed in to create a wonderful time of the year. Happy spooky season everyone!
