Senior Sawyer Gannon has been skiing since he was three years old. In recent years he has been able to experience traveling to competitions around the Rocky Mountain area to ski against other people his age.
Gannon is on the Winter Park ski team and competes in freestyle mogul skiing. This style of skiing is a combination of moguls and jumps. During each competition, he learns something new.
“It’s a lot about consistency like skiing how you know how to ski and not trying to do something too crazy.”
Gannon loves his sport because of the excitement and the learning opportunities he gains for normal life and also in regard to skiing. He started out when he was a lot younger and as he learned more he stuck with the sport because things got more interesting.
“It’s really fun to see the progress.”
Gannon is planning on sticking with competing after high school and has applied to many colleges that have ski teams.
Wish him luck in his efforts to get to Nationals which are happening in Vermont this year.
