Littleton Public School offers many opportunities for its students, and one that is perhaps largely unknown to many is the Seal of Biliteracy.
The Seal of Biliteracy is a means of demonstrating an LHS student’s global-mindedness, even if they do not complete the IB diploma program.
Students who show proficiency in one or more world languages may qualify. This is a means of recognizing “students’ preparedness for college/career and for engagement as a global citizen.”
According to Crystal Reid, the district coordinator for the Seal of Biliteracy, “seal candidates are awarded a certificate at Senior Night.”
There are a couple different criteria options to demonstrate proficiency in both English and the respective world language.
The Seal of Biliteracy has been available for Colorado high school students since 2017, and Littleton Public Schools adopted it three years ago.
Reid said, “over 75 students have earned this distinction in the past two years.” That is 75 students with an additional global perspective entering the world!
