For the start of Homecoming week, boys grouped to play each other in volleyball. The teams were separated by grade with about 6 boys per team.
After the teams were created, they chose names. The freshman took the name “Stock Market Crashers,” the sophomores were the “Fortnighters,” the juniors were “God did,” with the seniors as the “Seniors.”
Once the names had been chosen, the games began.
Game 1 was the Seniors v. God Did. Though it was very evenly matched, after the end of the game the Seniors had started their winning streak.
On the other side of the gym, the Fortnighters and the Stock Market Crashers were playing for game 2. Both teams played well but the Fortnighters came out on top.
“It wasn’t like that much stress. It was just for fun.” Said freshman Peter Ridgley.
For game 3, the Fortnighters fought hard but ended up losing to the Seniors by just a few points. At the same time, the God Did won against the Stock Market Crashers in game 4.
Games 5 and 6 were the Seniors versus the Stock Market Crashers and the God Did versus the Fortnighters. After the Seniors and the God Did won, they faced off once again in the final.
With the Seniors trying to remain undefeated and the God Did wanting a chance to redeem themselves after game 1, both teams pushed their hardest to win. In the end, the God Did got their victory.
When asked about the final game, Senior Elan Sturtz said: “I think the game went fantastic. You know, we were playing strong to start, going 3 and 0. And then, you know, stuff happens. Stuff hit the fan and we lost it at the end there. But, that’s alright that’s sports.”
Regardless of the outcome, everyone at the event had an excellent time.
Junior Devin Shepherd said, “It was great, I love volleyball.”
