Littleton is home to lots of students who are passionate about what they do. One of those students is Aaron Rushmore. Rushmore is a sophomore at LHS. He’s on the varsity soccer team and is planning to join the yoga club later this year.
As a child, Rushmore always loved to be outdoors. He used to play flag football and when he decided to try something new, he chose to play soccer. That was when he was in elementary school and he has been playing ever since.
When asked what his hopes for this year were, Rushmore mentioned how he wanted to maintain a high GPA and do well in school, because education is important to him. He chose to come to Littleton because of the fact that the community is,
“Really accepting.” And how, “everyone can find what they want to do and a group of friends that shares the same interests as them”.
He also talked about things that he’s interested in outside of school, like white water rafting. Over the summer he went on a white water rafting trip with a nonprofit organization and he’s hoping to be able to attend another one this upcoming summer. He also wishes to go to guide school once he turns eighteen to be a river guide and lead rafting excursions.
Rushmore is very family oriented and he grew up with two older brothers, both of whom graduated from Littleton High School in the past few years and are currently attending college in state. He doesn’t mind them being away at college because they’re so close to home.
He said, “it wasn’t as hard when they left as movies make it out to be, because they come back like every month”.
Following in the footsteps of his brothers, he’s interested in going to college, and likes the idea of staying in state so he can be close to family.
Growing up, Rushmore spent a lot of time with his brothers as well as the people that lived in his neighborhood. He met his best friend Ryan Weyrauch in first grade because they were neighbors and they are still close to this day.
Some of his fondest childhood memories are spending entire summers outside with Weyrauch and his brothers. They would make up games and spend hours outside each day hanging out and filming on Weyrauch’s gopro. Rushmore is incredibly grateful that he was able to experience the childhood he did and has lots of memories with his closest friends that he will be able to reminisce about in the future. He said that he sometimes still films when he hangs out with Weyrauch so he could share them at his best friend’s wedding, giving them an opportunity to look back on their youth.
Whether it was his love for being outdoors or his elementary school best friend, Rushmore cherishes the aspects of his life collected throughout the years and carries those memories with him daily. He is passionate about the things he cares about and prioritizes the right things for his success both in and out of the classroom. He’s a perfect example of what it means to be a student at Littleton High School.
