As a native Coloradan, I have not once been skiing or snowboarding. Whenever I tell someone this, they ask me why.
My answer to this question is always the same: we’ve just never really had an urge to. My parents who have lived in Colorado for almost all their lives haven’t spent much time skiing either, so it was just something we’ve never been interested in putting effort into.
It takes a while to learn how to ski, and there is always the chance of falling and getting hurt.
“The first time I went skiing I didn’t really like it, as of right now I still am falling down and it’s painful,” said Anna Moreno.
In my mind it seems like a lot of work to buy or rent all of the gear needed and head up to the mountains.
“I have been like three or four times with damaging crashes each time except the first,” said Georgia Moore.
So, is skiing actually worth it? Well, I can’t quite say from experience. On average, the cost for one person per day to go skiing is $300, but it varies where you go and what equipment you want to rent.
“It’s too expensive for something that hurts,” said Moore.
However, there are lots of people that do like skiing.
“It is fun, and it gives you a sport to do in winter. If you fall you’re going to fall in water, and it’s not like concrete,” said Ceirra Wilburn.
Even if it is expensive, many people do enjoy having a sport to do in the winter. Skiing is an activity almost anyone can do, and as Owen Talley said, “It is fun.”
“It’s a fun and thrilling winter activity, and even if you fall, that is part of learning. You don’t get hurt when you fall most of the time,” said Neo Crooks.
