For the final sporting event of homecoming week, the girls flag football team played Dakota Ridge high school and Green Mountain high school on Saturday, before the dance.
The first game against Dakota Ridge was a very thrilling game, however LHS ended up losing 13-6. Immediately after this game, they were faced with the challenge of Green Mountain High School, which LHS also ended up losing by a score of 47-0.
“Even when we noticed someone was feeling down, we were bringing each other up too, I think our teamwork was really good. We were really trying to focus on giving our best efforts,” said junior Claudia Jones.
The team was very determined to play as hard as possible and do everything in their power to get the win over two of the top teams in the league. This included an interception by Jones which helped LHS march down the field and score a go ahead touchdown against Dakota Ridge.
“We need to realize we need to stay locked in the whole time, and we can’t let a couple things slide,” said junior Annika Heimbigner.
In the second game after a few mistakes early on, Green Mountain was able to take advantage and jump out to an early lead. However, in the second half LHS was able to clean up from the mishaps and play a much more put together brand of football.
Look out for the LHS flag football Senior night on September 25th in the LPS stadium.
