Yesterday, on December 10th, both the Boys Varsity Basketball team and the Girls Varsity Basketball team went up against Englewood High School.
Englewood was the first league game for Girls Basketball, and they did not disappoint! LHS dominated, and was leading 37 to 1 by the end of the 1st half. Junior Emma Bird led in points scored, with impressive assists by Senior Mariah Stitt, and strong defense by Senior Eliza Martinez. Eliza Martinez has been playing for LHS Basketball for 4 years, and she reflects on her thoughts about the team this year.
“I love my team so much, and I’m so excited to be able to play with them throughout this entire season. We have a very good environment here.” Martinez says.
The final score of the game was 62 to 6, an incredible triumph by LHS Girls Basketball!
Boys Basketball had their first home game against Englewood, and after a close matchup, they came out on top! Senior Sam Lasswell led the team with points scored, and Junior Omani Johnson had incredible layups! Sophomore Tyler Griffin blocked several of Englewood’s shots, and overall the whole team fought hard to get the win. After an intense first half, the Lions were winning 37 to 23, and they kept up their efforts in order to beat Englewood, 57 to 48!
Overall, last night was very successful for LHS, and we can’t wait to see the upcoming games!
