Every student has a class that feels harder than the rest. Whether it’s because of the content or the amount of work, some classes are just tough to get through. During this interview we discover that 57% of students find Math classes harder, 8% IB LA classes, 26% AP Science Classes (specially AP Chemistry) 9% World Languages Classes (Mostly Spanish). Here’s what some students said about their most difficult classes.
Math
Catherine Whalen says algebra is her hardest class. “I just don’t understand it,” she admits. Math can be really confusing (I speak from experience.)
Calculus seems to be a big challenge for many students:
- Caroline May, who takes AP BC Calculus, says, “There’s so much content, and we go through it too fast.”
- Kooper Griggs says IB Calculus was really hard when he had a bad teacher. “Now I have a good teacher who helps a lot, but the content is still tough.”
- Mateo Weiss finds Calculus BC hard because he didn’t take pre-calculus, which made it harder to keep up.
Math isn’t a favorite for everyone. Emma Roskelley says, “I don’t like math; it’s too hard.” Mo also struggles with math but for a different reason: “The way we learn it is different, and it’s hard to get used to.”
IB Language Arts
For Bryan Jara, IB Language Arts is hard because he’s still learning English. “It’s hard for me,” he explains, showing how balancing reading, writing, and understanding a new language isn’t easy.
Science
Science classes are a lot of work. Samuel Morris says, “There’s too much homework,” while Christian finds chemistry really tough because the topics are complicated. Daniel agrees, saying AP Chemistry is hard because there’s so much to remember.
Spanish
Johanna Shepela says Spanish is her hardest class because she’s learning it at 17. “It’s hard to learn a new language at this age,” she explains.
Everyone has a class that feels extra hard, but it’s important to keep trying. Whether it’s asking for help, studying in a new way, or just not giving up, you can get through it.
