Are New Year’s resolutions helpful? Do they really mean anything? That’s up to the person who makes it. Most people decide to go to the gym, or attempt to better themselves through different ways as a means of having a better year. Does this really work?
It depends on the person. For some, having an actual fresh start is exactly what their mind needs in order to accept and embrace change. By seeing the calendar change from one year to the next, the thought of the possibilities that will arise within the next year is exciting for some and allows them to hold themselves accountable for what they would like to accomplish in the upcoming year.
However, for others, the ability to change suddenly isn’t as natural. The change can feel like just one day coming into the next. This makes it a challenge to just simply improve themselves overnight. The dedication needed to complete a new year’s resolution is an underestimated aspect of the fulfillment.
Often the gym becomes an overcrowded place in January as those who feel like going will grant them the improvement they desire, however as the year goes on, the numbers thin out each month, while everyone gets caught up by the rest of their life and are no longer focused on improving their overall life.
Getting caught up in personal, work, and overall life is the hardest challenge of keeping a new years resolution. It may be easy to keep it while everyone is getting back into the swing of things after a small break for the holidays. Once the first bump in the road comes up, it’s easy to overlook the goal you previously had. This is a very common occurrence for many and is a very understandable reason to not keep the resolution.
While new year’s resolutions may not be for everybody, they are a fantastic way to help others reach their goals, and climb to the peak of their potential. No matter what the resolution may be, if you are able to stick to it, and complete it, that is a huge accomplishment for any individual.
