Girls swim team competes in last home meet of the season

This past Tuesday, the Littleton High School girls’ swim team plunged into their last home meet against Thunder Ridge High School and Dakota Ridge High School. As the crowd filed in, coming to support each team, the water splashed as each swimmer warmed up for their events.

The meet started with the 200-yard medley relay. Each swimmer showed off their incredible skills through every freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. The audience cheered each swimmer on, supporting them through the end of the race.

As the night went on, Maddie Roth, Hayden Irwin, Noah Huffman, and Kaili Lucas competed in the 1-meter diving. Each girl executed wonderful dives, consisting of athleticism and precision, and they earned some amazing scores and praise from the audience in return for their performance.

After the diving came to an end, all the swimmers gathered to celebrate the teams’ seniors, Amelia Johns, Claire Esser, India Reed, Sam Denman, Hayden Hopkins, and Molly Oznick. Everyone gathered to make a tunnel for them, and the seniors gathered at one end, going through one at a time, getting recognized and celebrated by the rest of the team, the other schools, and the crowd.

The swimming continued after the ceremony came to a close, re-opening with the 100-yard butterfly. Team spirit was very evident as every single swimmer tried their best in every event, making a strong push at the end of each one.

As the meet approached its end, everyone prepared for the final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay. Every athlete gave their all to finish off the meet on a good note, which they most certainly did.

All in all, the LHS girl’s swim team did a great job on their last home meet of the season and did an even better job celebrating their seniors. This impeccable group of athletes showcased their, grace, endurance, teamwork, and commitment. Encouraging applause from the crowd amplified their and the team’s love and dedication towards the sport.
