Last week our girls and boys wrestling teams represented LHS at state. A few athletes from each team competed at Ball Arena on the 13th, 14th, and 15th. Every wrestler that competed had a memorable weekend, and great seasons overall.
One of the competitors for the girls team was freshman Wren Freeman. This was Freeman’s first year wrestling, and she had an impressive season. She placed fourth for state, and was “very proud of how her season went”. Freeman’s favorite part of the wrestling season was the moment she realized she got into state.
Junior Kooper Griggs also competed at state, and did very well. This year was also the first year wrestling for senior Isaac Johnson. Johnson said a highlight from the season was “the connections made with teammates from being on the team.”
Junior Christian May and senior David Cruz competed for the boys team. May placed 7th at state, and is proud of the season he had. He said making it into state was a highlight for him, because “it truly shows that how hard I have worked has paid off”. Cruz also had an impressive competition, placing 6th overall. He has been wrestling all of highschool, and he thought it was a great season overall.
All in all, It was a great season for our wrestlers. Congratulations to these athletes for their hard work and dedication!
