On Thursday, our Lions faced Ponderosa Mustangs at 7:30 at LPS field to begin the season for the Varsity girls soccer team. Despite a determined effort, Lions fell 3-0 to a strong Mustang squad in their last matchup.
The game started evenly, with both teams battling for control in the midfield. However, Mustangs broke the deadlock late in the first half to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Lions pushed forward in search of an equalizer, but Mustangs took advantage of a defensive lapse to double their lead. A third goal in the final minutes sealed the victory for Mustangs.
Despite the loss, goalkeeper Alexa Holm-Denoma made several key saves, and the defense worked hard to hold off repeated attacks.
