On Friday, September 4, the boys’ varsity golf team played in a tournament at Indian Tree Golf Course and ranked 1st overall. The team has been practicing hard all summer and were ready to crush it at their tournament.
Since golf is a non-contact sport, the team has been able to practice before the school year started. Golf courses never closed during the lockdown, so the boys had plenty of time to practice their technique. This practice has definitely paid off.
Junior Emmett Loomis shot a 75, landing him first overall at the tournament. Sophomore Dane Price also performed well, shooting a 77 overall, and sophomore Noah Abramson shot with a 78. With scores like these, the boys are hoping to make it to state.
“Goals for the rest of the season are probably to make it to state and make top 30 at state,” said Loomis.
All of Loomis’ hard work paid off because he qualified for state.
The state tournament is scheduled for October 4 and 5, so the boys have a couple weeks to hone in and practice their technique.
“I’ll be working on my putting,” said Abramson.
You will probably see the boys at the Broken Tee Golf Course or Littleton Golf and Tennis practicing their skills at the driving range or putting green.
“I’ll be going to the golf course a lot and just working on my driving and putting also,” said Loomis.
Even though this season will be shorter than others and the season could end tomorrow, the boys are still working hard and practicing to be at their best.
