When people think of fall desserts, they usually think of pumpkin pie, but there are so many other pumpkin treats to treat yourself to this fall. I looked at many great stores all over town, including Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, and of course Starbucks, to find the best pumpkin-flavored goodies to recommend to everyone else. These treats will be ranked on a score of from zero to ten, with ten being the highest score for taste.

Pumpkin scone rating

One of the first places I thought of was Starbucks when I thought of desserts. One item I got was a pumpkin scone, which I rank a nine out of ten. Some scones I have tried have been very dry and flavorless, but this scone was full of pumpkin flavor. There was a little bit of spice to it, which complemented the pumpkin nicely. There was frosting on the top of the scone that bumped up the score significantly because it tasted really sweet. The only reason the scone was not a ten was that the frosting was almost too sweet.

Pumpkin bread rating

Another pumpkin treat from Starbucks was the pumpkin bread. The pumpkin bread was not very sweet, but the pumpkin flavor was very strong. The taste was similar to the pumpkin scone, but there was no spice adding to the flavor. The pumpkin bread was topped with nuts, which I did not particularly enjoy. They did not add to the flavor and very a stark contrast to the soft bread. I have made pumpkin bread that has had a much better flavor than this bread, so I would rather make my own. Because of the nuts and the almost bland flavor, I give the pumpkin bread a seven out of ten.

Pumpkin cheesecake rating

Another excellent pumpkin dessert is pumpkin cheesecake, which I got from Wholefoods. The cheesecake I got was a single serving and gluten-free, so if you ever want a quick bite of pumpkin, then I highly recommend this cheesecake. I could not tell the cheesecake was gluten-free, but the pumpkin flavor was not as apparent. I do not know if the pumpkin was hidden by the cheesecake, but it was not the first flavor I tasted. I do not usually like cheesecake, but I really enjoyed this little one. I also liked the crust at the bottom, for it was very sweet and tasted great with the cheesecake. Overall, I give this cheesecake an eight out of ten because it was delicious, but I think the pumpkin flavor could have been stronger.

Pumpkin pie rating

The last treat I got was a traditional pumpkin pie from Trader Joe’s. This pie definitely gets a ten out of ten from me. From the first bite to the last, it tasted delicious. The pumpkin flavor was the perfect amount, and I could taste plenty of spices like ginger and nutmeg. I usually do not like the pie crust that much, but this crust tasted like cookies and was easy to break apart. I had my second piece with whipped cream, which added to the remarkable pie. I recommend adding the whipped cream for a bit of extra flavor, but the pie does not really need it. The overall flavor was so great that this pie deserves a ten out of ten.
