With arguably the weirdest semester in LHS history, it should be no surprise that the finals week will also look unique. After the original plan of a hybrid week with four classes finals’ in a row, the recent shift to a solely online format for the remainder of the year yields some change.

The new finals schedule will look comparable to past years, with an eight period Monday and two finals for every day in the rest of the week. Since classes are all through Google Meets, teachers are encouraged to take a new route to ensure the most beneficial way for students to show what they’ve learned this semester. Instead of the usual multiple-choice exam, expect to have an in-class discussion or a project due.

The LHS finals schedule sent out the updated schedule adding an explanation with it, writing, “For the benefit of students, the finals schedule also spreads out the finals so that most students have no more than two finals each day, and provides more study time. This schedule is advantageous for students, teachers, and the overall quality of the final exams.”

If your teacher hasn’t yet, ask them what their final will look like. It is their responsibility as well as yours to know what your most important graded assignment of the semester will be. Hopefully, it can be something manageable that will improve your grade.
