Dating is hard enough by itself, but dating in a pandemic can be exponentially more difficult to navigate. Whether you are by yourself or have a significant other to spend 2021 Valentine’s Day with, there are many things that you can do to spice up the COVID safe activities you do to make your day extra special.

  1. Have a spa night. This is the newest Tik-Tok trend for couples everywhere! Pull out the face masks and do each other’s skincare! You can also do a little bit of a spa night on your own or do some self-care with a friend.
  2. Do an Ultimate Movie Marathon. Whether you are with your friends, you SO, or by yourself, you can choose a variety of movies to binge all night or all day. Bring out the good snacks and maybe even go buy yourself those boxes of Girl Scout cookies you have been craving for the movie!
  3. Try baking a new recipe. Whether it is for some friends, your family, or your special someone, it can be super fun to try making a new sweet treat to share! You could even ask someone to bake it with you for a little additional bonding time.
  4. Get fancy and go nowhere! Have a dress or tux that you have been dying to wear but haven’t had the opportunity since you have been stuck inside for a year? No worries! Do your hair, slap on a fancy outfit, and go to Target or McDonald’s. Take photographs at a park while you look super dressed up, or just go somewhere else that wearing a ballgown isn’t a part of the dress code!
  5. Splurge on some fancy chocolate. V-Day is the day of the year that sells the most chocolate. That means all the expensive chocolatiers come out with the best they have to offer. If you like to indulge with food, this might be something exciting to try.
  6. Have a dance party in your room. Blast those broken heart songs or sappy love ones, and just dance your heart out.
  7. Babysit. You might not have thought of this one, but many couples are going to be dying for a night away. By not having any plans yourself, you can go make a little bit of extra cash!
  8. Volunteer. This year, many Non-Profit Organizations are struggling to have the number of volunteers necessary. Donate blood, or write some Valentine’s cards to send to your local hospital or homeless shelter. If you have a little bit of extra time, a lot of people could sure use some extra love this year.
  9. Support your local small businesses! Ordering takeout? Do it from a small local business close to where you live. Many small businesses are struggling and everything you can do to support them helps.
  10. Write a love letter to yourself. Write down all the things you appreciate and love about yourself. It will not only boost your confidence and mood, but it will also give you something to look forward to reading in the future!
  11. Watch the sunrise or sunset. There are many fun parks and other outdoor spaces where you can watch the sunrise or sunset and are totally costless.
  12. Go on a walk, run, bike ride, hike, etc. There are many fun trails in Colorado that you can use to enjoy the beauty of nature. Whether you are alone, or with someone else, you can be sure to enjoy this special time enjoying the beautiful state you live in.
  13. Shop. Many online stores have wonderful sales around ANY holiday because of the pandemic. Check out your favorite online boutique and see if you can find some steals.
  14. Do a Secret Santa type gift exchange with your closest friends! Draw names and ship each other a small gift. It will help you feel like you aren’t missing out on anything.

BONUS: Be super productive and get all of your work that you have been meaning to catch up on done. It will relieve a lot of stress for the following weeks and it will keep you busy so you don’t get too lonely!
