As part of the M&M controversy in the news right now, our staff decided to try the most popular flavors of M&M candies. We tried ten different types to determine which M&M we liked the best as a staff. And our staff brought out our inner connoisseur to do this.
We tried:
- Mini M&Ms, M&M Chocolate Bar, Peanut Butter M&M, Pretzel M&M, Fudge Brownie M&M, Milk Chocolate M&M, Caramel M&M, Almond M&M, Peanut M&M, and Crispy M&M.
10. Crispy
If I wanted something crunchy I would eat a crunch bar or a Kit-Kat not an M&M. Very bumpy, too small, like the Lays chips of M&Ms. Tastes like solid air inside. It’s really powdery and does taste like air. It doesn’t really taste like anything. It’s giving cereal. I really enjoy the crunch which is the point of them. They’re pretty bland though I’m not sure about that. Not the best option.

9. Chocolate Bar
Honestly don’t really see the point, if you want a chocolate bar then just eat a chocolate bar and if you want m&ms then just eat M&Ms. The chocolate is pretty good, though I just don’t get it.

8. Almond
It tastes like my grandma’s house and I like my grandma’s house but I do not want to taste my grandmother’s house in an M&M. It tastes musty in a way? What is that? I like almonds but not like this. This is really good. I love this one. It has the perfect amount of almond with the perfect amount of chocolate, and the two flavors are really tasty together. Our staff was very split on this matter.

7. Peanut Butter
I like the size, not too small, and would be better with more chocolate. I like the crunch with the peanut butter and chocolate but the peanut butter is way too overpowering.

6. Peanut
The peanut goes well with the chocolate. The whole peanut is better than the peanut butter because the peanut butter is way too strong. The whole peanut just goes much better with the chocolate and nothing is too overpowering. I don’t hate them and I don’t love them, at least they don’t taste like dust, but I’d prefer a darker chocolate or at least more chocolate

5. Fudge Brownie
This tastes weird. I would rather just eat a regular M&M, that is too heavy. I like chocolate though so I would eat another one. Size is very nice, the texture is very nice and not too sweet.

4. Mini
I feel like they are a bit sweeter than the original, it is fun to eat a handful of them, perfect topping for hot cocoa. Mini’s give me the same vibes as Nerds but chocolate flavored. You can pick how many to put in your mouth at once making the satisfaction levels customizable. I think that mini M&Ms outdo the normal ones. They are fun to eat and you can have a handful at a time rather than the normal M&Ms.

3. Pretzel
Nice size would be better with more chocolate, love the salty-sweet combo. Chocolate and pretzels are actually pretty good. I really liked this one but I wish there was more chocolate because I feel like the pretzel overpowers the chocolate.

2. Original
Classic M&M goodness, crispy and crunchy on the outside with yummy chocolate on the inside. It has a nice crunch at the beginning and has a nice milk chocolate flavor. You can’t really beat the classic M&M. It is perfectly crispy and has a good taste all the way through.

1. Caramel
It has a good mix of chocolate and caramel and I loved it. I love the mix of chocolate and carmel and the chewiness of the carmel. I love caramel m&ms so much, they are my favorite. The size is perfect and the caramel allows it to stay in your mouth for a longer amount of time than the other ones. It doesn’t taste artificial and the sweetness level is perfect. The caramel isn’t salty, which I really like.
