Lights. Camera. Hamilton. In other words the greatest musical in modern day which is currently on tour in Colorado.

The Hamilton musical was first performed on July 13, 2015 and it hasn’t stopped since. Unfortunately the original cast is not longer performing but that does not mean the quality of the show is damaged.

The touring season is called the North American Tour Cast of Hamilton. They travel all across the continent to perform their show. And they do their job really well.

I had tickets to see the show when it came to Denver in 2020. But then COVID exploded and the show was canceled. The company rescheduled my ticket for last night. It was a school night, but their was no way I was going to miss it.

There are three different casts that travel on tour and I saw the Peggy Cast. Before the show I googled who the actors are and they all have amazing reputations. Julius Thomas III played the role of Hamilton. He has more than five Broadway shows under his belt and I can happily say that his performance of Alexander Hamilton was a success.

Victoria Ann Scovens played Eliza on the night I went. This Hamilton cast is her debut and she was spectacular. Her voice is different from the original cast recording but that was not an issue. I felt that the ensemble really made the show. They did all the set changes themselves and really made the performance come alive.

I watched the Broadway show when it was put on Disney+ and I loved the set. It was so elaborate and big so I was shocked to see it on the stage when I walked into the theater. They had three sets of stairs one of which rolled around the stage on wheels. The crew expertly made use of the fly system which raised and lowered lights that added to the set.

I have waited for over a year to see this show. And the wait was worth it. Hamilton is in Denver until March 27. If you have the chance, I highly recommend going to see it.
