Mr. Burton: the fiery physics fanatic

As this year comes to a close, Mr. Burton who teaches Integrated Science 3-4, Physics, and AP Physics, is preparing to head into his retirement. He has been teaching at LHS for 21 years.

Mr. Burton likes hunting, fly fishing, and traveling, things that he plans to do after retiring. He is also excited to be a grandfather soon.

“I’ll be fishing In West Virginia in June, Iceland in July, and California in August,”  he said in regards to his summer plans post-retirement.

He reflects on why teaching science at Littleton was a special experience for him.

“I just always liked science, having to think and figure things out,”

“I like the school and I like the students,”

If you’ve ever been in Mr. Burton’s class, you know there is never a dull moment, as he’s always delving into a new phenomenon of science. He loves to conduct fun science experiments with his students, exploring fire, energy, motion, and more.

“I like the vortex of fire and the ring lab for physics, they’re my favorites,”

He never fails to engage his students in the captivating world of science.

However, this isn’t a permanent goodbye. Mr. Burton will be back in the second semester of next year teaching as a substitute teacher! We hope that he and other teachers alike continue to encourage their students’ interest in science.
