Frida Kahlo immersive exhibit presents enchanting elements of Mexican life and culture

The Lighthouse Artspace in Denver holds an immersive experience for both Kahlo and Van Gogh enthusiasts. On alternating days, the different artists are showcased. Over the weekend, I was able to enjoy the immersive, fascinating exhibit on Frida Kahlo.

Unlike other exhibits where you walk around and look at each presented art piece on your own, this one is a forty-minute rotation of animations and music where you sit, watch, and enjoy. There are two adjoining rooms with the same projections, but with different mirrored structures and seating areas.

David Korins, artistic director and recipient of ten awards and nominations, has reached millions of people with his omnidirectional experiences bringing stories to life. He’s been described as having “transverse the landscape of world-building and storytelling through almost every medium available.” Massimiliano Siccardi is the creator of the captivating video art presented at Frida’s and Van Gogh’s exhibits. After leaving the dance scene he’s become an international inspiration of anything videography, photography, and digital imaging.

For a unique way to explore and enjoy visual art, I recommend saving an hour in your weekend for this one.
