Prom 2022 promised a night full of dancing, singing, and socializing for those who attended. With the theme of Old Hollywood, it was sure to be classy and reflect the golden era of Hollywood. The event certainly lived up to these expectations, even outshining them.
There was a wide variety of dresses, tuxes, and more worn by students. Attire was fairly traditional for the ladies: dresses with darker, bolder tones were the popular choice. Many chose dresses with floral patterns or sparkles. For the men, most wore tuxes, and those with dates matched the colors of their attire to their date’s attire. However, dresses and other types of clothing were worn by men as well.
The venue chosen for the night was the Vehicle Vault in Parker. At first, this venue decision incited some questions, but upon entering, it’s crystal clear why it was the top pick. The main part of the building is lined with sleek and shiny cars. The red carpet walk surrounded by vintage vehicles is classy and made every student feel as though they were in an old Hollywood movie.
Songs played throughout the night were the typical, upbeat school dance songs. Students danced to songs by Pitbull, Usher, and other popular artists all night long. Older classics like ‘Come on Eileen’ and ‘Sweet Caroline’ were also played.
Towards the end of the night, prom court was announced. Dan Lamey won prince, Sophie Lisle won princess, Brian Leuthold won king, and Makenna Lee won queen. Other nominations were also announced. Best couple was won by Holly Burns and Dan Lamey, best dressed was won by Marcos Gonzales, best comedian was won by KC Lynch, and best bromance was won by Peyton Fenner and Jack Duvernet.
Some prom-goers talk about their experience.
“I’m enjoying the music and all the cars it’s been really cool. Also seeing people I know and there’s a lounge so people can chill and listen to music and enjoy the night,” said senior Lauren Tesar.
“I really like cars so I think it’s cool,” said senior Alaysia Wright in regards to the venue.
Senior Jen Zirkle shares what she enjoyed about the night.
“Mostly just seeing friends and seeing everyone in fancy-wear [sic], seeing all of my friends, and being able to dance and scream at the top of my lungs.”
Prom 2022 was anything but average and it was a shining success. The amount of effort and time Student Council and staff members put into setting up this event was recognizable and much appreciated. It was a memorable night for all who attended.
