On Friday, October 4, the LHS Lions faced the Pomona Panthers at 7:00pm at LPS stadium for a soccer match to get an opportunity to get into the playoffs. The Lions won 6-0.
The game was suspenseful until junior Alden Ray scored the first goal.
“I feel good knowing that we won our second game, and knowing that by doing that we continued to open the way to the playoffs,” senior Rafael Alvarenga said.
The first half ended with a score of 2-0, the second goal was scored by senior Rafa Alvarenga after an amazing pass from the corner made by sophomore Jesus Alana.
The second half began with a double from junior Ricardo Lopez, almost at the end of the game senior Eli Jacobs and senior Luke Morris scored the last two goals to set the clear winner of the match.
“We are very happy after winning this match with a significant score, this victory gave us the confidence to face the next games of the season knowing that we can be at the necessary level,” senior Marconi Porras declared.
With this win, the Lions still have hope to get to the playoffs.
